Latest Status of US Customs Duties: 2026 Current Tariff and Practices

US customs duties and additional tariffs are among the critical risk and cost items for companies engaged in cross-border trade. A new judicial decision taken in the US as of February 20, 2026, and the subsequent announcements are being closely followed, especially by exporting companies.

In this article, we have clearly summarized the current situation in US customs duties, which regulations are in force, and the current picture regarding products of Turkish origin.

Supreme Court Decision on US Customs Duties

On February 20, 2026, the US Supreme Court ruled to invalidate certain tariffs applied under the IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act).

New Additional Tariff Under Section 122

Following the court decision, the US administration, under Section 122:

• Announced that an additional tariff of 10% will be applied globally.

• In a subsequent statement, Donald Trump stated that they had increased this rate to 15%.

Important note:
The official technical guide for this implementation has not yet been published by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Therefore, the details of the implementation (scope, exceptions, calculation method) are not yet clear at this time.

Are Products of Turkish Origin Affected?

In line with current official statements:

• There is currently no additional or different implementation for products of Turkish origin.

• No additional tariff change has been announced for export processes originating from Turkey.

So, in today's picture, there is no operational change in terms of shipments from Turkey to the US.

Which US Tariffs Remain in Force?

The following tariffs previously introduced by the US government remain in effect as they are:

• Section 232 tariffs

• Section 301 tariffs

• All other existing taxes collected by the US government and paid to the US Treasury

In this context, the customs duties currently applied have not been canceled.

Refunds and Tax Processes

As of the current official situation:

• No regulation regarding refunds has been announced

• No refund process has been initiated for the taxes collected

• There is no operational or financial change in customs procedures, tax collection, and accounting processes
